Inside Our Mold Workshop: New CNC Machining Centers Online
Additional CNC machining centers are now running in our in-house tooling room, shortening the sampling loop for custom silicone projects.
Every custom silicone project starts long before the first molding machine runs. It starts in the tooling room, where a steel mold is machined to the dimensions on your drawing. This quarter we brought additional CNC machining centers online in our mold workshop, and the change shows up directly in the time it takes to put a first sample in your hands.
What changed in practice. We now run more machining capacity for complex cavities and cores, hold tighter dimensional control on the steel before it reaches a press, and turn around sample adjustments faster when feedback comes back from your team. Machining, polishing and trial molding stay under one roof, so a revision does not wait on an outside supplier's queue.
Why tooling speed matters to buyers. Every sample round costs your team time: checking dimensions, testing function, confirming color, signing off with your marketing or compliance colleagues. A shorter loop between "sample received" and "revised sample shipped" keeps your launch calendar intact. For seasonal programs, that difference is often the deciding factor between making a retail window or missing it.
How we develop a new mold. Our engineers start with a DFM review of your 3D files and material choice, flagging wall thickness, draft angles and undercuts before any steel is cut. From there we move to mold design and machining, then a trial run with your specified silicone hardness, color and finish. The trial parts go through dimensional and appearance checks before they are packed as samples, and each sample set ships with documentation you can forward internally.
Tooling is only part of the picture. Because our printing, heat transfer and laser engraving lines sit in the same facility, logos and brand details can be tested at the sample stage rather than discovered later during mass production. That keeps the approved sample and the production units aligned.
If you are planning a custom silicone product this year, send us your drawings or reference samples. Our team will review feasibility, propose a mold plan and give you a sampling schedule before you commit to tooling.
